How To Cleanse Crystals

A fantastic way to soothe your mind, body and soul is by using crystals. Many adopt the use of crystals in order to channel positive energy, absorb negativity and provide a better outlook on life. Healing is a process and crystals can be a big part of one’s journey. There is however the need to cleanse your crystals from time to time in order to return them back to their natural state. It’s also said that by cleansing and recharging your crystals, you can also reset your own sense of purpose, again amplifying the soothing of your being. This article will go into how you can actually cleanse your crystals and why it’s a good thing to do. So, without further ado, please feel free to read on.
Running Water
Submerging your stones in running water is said to be a fantastic way to cleanse your crystals and neutralise any negative energy that may be stored within it. Water sources like a stream is ideal however you can also rinse your stone under the tap. Doing this will return your stone back to earth. Whatever you do, make sure your crystal is put fully into water and pat dry when you’re complete. We recommend doing this for about one minute per stone and it is amazing especially for quartz and other hard stones. One final thing to add, would be that there is an exception to this method. Don’t use running water on stones that are brittle or soft such as selenite, kyanite, and halite.
Saltwater
This method may not come as a surprise to many of you due to the age-old use of salt to absorb unwanted energy and also to banish negativity. If you live near the sea then this is perfect however mixing salt with water is good too. We recommend fully submerging the stones for up to forty-eight hours in total. Once again, exceptions are to be made for stones that are soft, porous, or contain trace metals, such as malachite, selenite, halite, calcite, lepidolite, and angelite, simply don’t use this method for them.
Natural Light
Using natural light to cleanse your stones and crystals is also known as ritual cleansing and is often done at certain times in the solar and lunar cycles. You can however, simply put your stone out any time and it will be just fine. We recommend allowing your stones to bathe in both the moon light and sunlight for optimum results.
Sage
Sage is said to be a herb laced with many healing properties and so is a popular choice when it comes to restoring natural energy. More specifically, this technique is called smudging sage and entails you igniting the tip of a bunch of sage and allowing your stones to be hit by the sage smoke. Do this for about thirty seconds and repeat for every stone. Remember to keep a window open for the smoke and thus bad energy to escape freely.
Sound
Another method for cleansing your stone is sound healing. This allows a single pitch or tone to wash over an area, bringing it into the same vibration as the tone. Sound healing can be accomplished using chanting, singing bowls, a tuning fork, or even a nice bell. It doesn’t actually matter what key the sound is, just that the sound emitted is loud enough for the vibration to fully encompass the stone. This method can be used for any stone and will take around five to ten minutes in total.
Breathing
If all of the other methods are not appropriate for you, the most simple one is doing some breathing work with your stones. Holding your stone or crystal in your dominant hand concentrate on your intentions and deeply breath in through your nostrils. Then, bring the stone closer to your face and exhale short, forceful breaths through the nose and onto the stone to bring the stone to its highest vibration. Do this for about thirty seconds for smaller stones.
Visualisation
The final way of cleansing your crystals in this article is through visualisation. The idea here is to redirect your energy towards the stone you’re trying to restore. You must be in tune with yourself and feel ready to visualise your stone being filled with white radiant light. Envision all the bad energy and impurities pouring out of the stone and that you’re surrounding it with good things. We recommend doing this for around a minute but feel free to continue this until you feel a shift in your stones momentum.
