Meditation 365 Challenge – day 26 of my challenge to meditate every day for a whole year and write / blog about my experiences

Day 26……

How do you Meditate?

I think people like the idea of meditation and maybe try it once or twice before giving up.

We tend to want to be the Master Guru or the most spiritual being ever. We need to feel, hear and have awareness of all. The minute we start.

This cis just not possible.

It’s like learning to ride a bike. On your second, maybe third outing you wouldn’t expect to be welcomed into a Peloton would you? Win some medals and be the fastest rider that ever?

Well, it’s exactly the same when meditating.

It takes a lot of time investment in yourself. It doesn’t have to be spiritual, just mindful.

Being in the Power of Now which is exactly that, full of purpose and opportunities.

During my morning mediation today I needed to wobble on my cushion first, get myself comfy.

Every muscle in my body was tight from exercise so I needed time to allow it to relax and let go.

I couldn’t just expect to start my meditation from the get go!

Our mind reflects our body so – a tight unrelaxed body = tight busy mind!

Clear to Create

My thoughts were like cog wheels of a clock, Incessantly whirling round.

Not through stress, but I am planning for my future and with that, new business ideas multiply,

When you’re clear so much creativity pours in .

Every time I caught myself thinking between my breaths I visualised the cogs spinning in my mind.

I just watched them until they calmed and stopped. Then I took it further, waiting until I could see the cogs parting. I could see light between them.

This method really helped me this morning.

It may help you too.

The thing is to know that thoughts will come and go. Sometimes they never cease, like a wave of darkness, almost impossible to break.

But you WILL get that breakthrough.

If you relax and keep carrying on with which ever method of meditation or mindfulness suits you, always.

And when that happens, you will feel stillness, peace and connection. Even if it’s just for a nano second, there will be no denying that feeling. It’s what we all strive for in life afterall.

Would love to hear how you quieten your mind?

How do you meditate?
