As you may all know our beautiful country has been attacked from the beast from the East, and what a relentless beast this is.
This is now our second snow day in this household and still the wind doth blow.
These rare yet wonderful free days force you to stop for a while, and I regularly found myself looking out from our warm secure home at the pure blank canvas outside.
Such extreme contrasts unfolding before my eyes as I sat in my kitchen looking out at the complete opposite, chaos and freezing cold.

Severe weather makes us focus, be truly present as the view constantly changes from one moment to the next. Snow fall is so mesmerising with all its distinct differences,
The long slow sideways type,
The floaty gentle wafty type
Then the vicious bitey blizzard variety that we’re experiencing today.

It is just so addictive to watch as it swirls and blasts through the thick grey snow laden atmosphere.

All day great dollops of appreciation and gratitude were erupting from me, as I was feeling so very lucky to have a solid roof over my head, truly grateful for the skills and expertise of our plumber Andy, who was able to come over straightaway after I messaged him early this morning slightly panicked at our lack of heating from bad boiler behaviour, he was more than capable and fixed it in no time.
Grateful for the safe deliverance of our youngest after her school closed at lunch, and for all my family keeping safe and warm.

As yesterday was drawing to a close, Maya, Stanley bear and I braved the storm on foot. I needed to go to the shop and moo had a maths lesson to get to, I know cruel turn of events even after her school had closed. Even the walk at temperatures of -11 was a truly wonderful thing, for the sun was low and just beginning to set, casting golden shadows all over the brilliant white snow. The route we took was a steep narrow road usually littered with traffic traipsing up and down, but not on a snow day where normal rules do not apply. The lane was smothered with thick white drifts of snow, only sledge tracks and foot prints to be seen, great squeals of delight being carried through the freezing winds from children sledging. Even bear our cocker spaniel kept woofing as he couldn’t contain his delight.

These rare days are so wonderful, they are off calendar days, they don’t count.
I even had the urge and time to make homemade cookies once we got home as calories don’t count on snow days either, carbs are essential in the cold!
A day of pure bliss, cocooned from the world in a blanket of snow.

Even crystal adore the snow, get them out there, all of them. For crystals come from our Earth and they benefit so much from being cleansed and recharged by all elements, even Beasts from the East.
